TPO

TPO roofing, or thermoplastic polyolefin, is a single-ply white membrane commonly used in both commercial roofing and residential settings. It serves as an excellent alternative to traditional options like asphalt shingles, EPDM roofing, and metal roofs.

EPDM

EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer or monomer) is a synthetic rubber black membrane commonly used in commercial roofing applications, as well as in various commercial and medical facilities. Unlike traditional options like asphalt shingles and metal roofs, EPDM roofing offers durability and flexibility, making it a popular choice alongside other materials such as TPO roofing.

Durability: EPDM roofing is known for its durability and flexibility, while TPO roofing is more impact and puncture resistant.

Longevity: EPDM roofs tend to last longer than TPO roofs due to their UV and high temperature resistance, making them a reliable choice for both commercial roofing and residential applications, unlike asphalt shingles which may have shorter lifespans.

Appearance: EPDM offers more color options than TPO, which is usually white, allowing for a more customized look than traditional metal roofs.

Environmental impact: TPO is more energy-efficient than EPDM because of its light color and UV resistance, making it a better fit for energy-conscious projects.

Location: TPO is better suited for warmer regions due to its reflective properties, while EPDM is ideal for colder areas, where it provides passive heating.

Fire resistance: Both TPO and EPDM are Class A fire-resistant, ensuring safety regardless of the roofing choice.

Metal Roofs

Durability: Metal roofs are highly resistant to extreme weather conditions such as hail and hurricanes, offering a lifespan of up to 50 years, making them a reliable choice compared to traditional asphalt shingles.

Appearance: Available in a wide range of colors and finishes, metal roofs can also be found in multi-hued shades, adding aesthetic value to both residential and commercial roofing projects.

Energy efficiency: With their ability to reflect solar heat, metal roofs can significantly reduce cooling costs by up to 40%, making them an energy-efficient option over alternatives like EPDM roofing and TPO roofing.

Environmental impact: One of the major advantages of metal roofs is that they are 100% recyclable and often made from recycled materials, contributing positively to sustainability efforts.

Fire resistance: Metal roofs are noncombustible and hold a Class A fire rating, providing enhanced safety compared to other roofing materials.

Maintenance: Unlike asphalt shingles, metal roofs demand minimal maintenance and are resistant to cracking, fading, and other forms of wear and tear.
